Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles, including but not limited to trucks, buses, construction equipment, and other diesel-powered machinery. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as a commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using a combination of diagnostic software, manual tools, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Repair and replace defective parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure all vehicles and equipment meet safety and performance standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex engine problems, including fuel injection systems, cooling systems, and turbochargers.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and any potential issues.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and new technologies in diesel mechanics.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or a similar role.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; completion of a diesel mechanic or heavy-duty equipment repair program is a plus.
  • ASE certification in Diesel Engines or other related areas is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, including diagnostics, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions and environments.
Work Environment:
This position may require working in a shop, field, or industrial setting. The work can be physically demanding, with exposure to loud noises, chemicals, and heavy machinery.
