Position Title: Program & Event Director
Employment Status: Full-Time
Reports To: President/CEO
 
POSITION SUMMARY
Programs and events are essential tools of the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce, serving to connect businesses, community leaders, and key stakeholders. The Program & Event Director is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of Chamber programs and events, while managing budgets and logistics in alignment with strategic public relations and engagement goals. This position plays a critical role in building awareness, fostering business engagement, and supporting the Chamber’s role as a trusted voice for the local business community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program & Event Director works collaboratively with Chamber staff, volunteer leadership, committees, and community partners to coordinate events, programs, and related activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plan, design, and execute Chamber and Foundation events and programs, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Manage all logistical components of events, including facilities, layout, décor, catering, transportation, equipment, guest lists, and special guests.
  • Monitor and manage program and event budgets, including sponsorship revenue and expenses.
  • Develop and implement innovative marketing and communication strategies to promote events through print, broadcast, digital, and social media platforms.
  • Design engaging, on-brand marketing materials while maintaining consistent Chamber messaging.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, sponsors, industry professionals, and Chamber members.
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot event-related issues and resolve conflicts as they arise.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on planning progress, execution, and outcomes.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and prepare summary reports to support continuous improvement.
  • Propose ideas to enhance programs, services, and overall event quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience in event coordination or program management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing platforms, websites, and social media.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and systems.
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations, either as an employee or volunteer, preferred.
  • Commitment to supporting the success of local businesses.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Manual dexterity to operate computers and standard office equipment.
  • Visual and auditory acuity to communicate effectively and operate office and mobile devices.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and speak for extended periods.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Environment: Primarily indoor office setting with outdoor work required during events.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to industry events or related locations may be required.
  • Hours: Early mornings and evenings are required regularly to support events.
 
SALARY, HOURS, AND SUPERVISION
  • Annual Salary: $35,568
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with flexibility required for events
  • Supervision: Reports to the President/CEO; annual performance review conducted by the President/CEO

  • Mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate for business travel exceeding 15 miles one way
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match up to 5%
 
VACATION AND LEAVE
  • Paid Holidays: Federal holidays, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve
  • Vacation: Two weeks after one year of continuous service; up to three weeks after five years
  • Personal Leave: Accrues at four hours per month
