The Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment, & Quality (HSEQ) will play a strategic role in shaping and executing Aypa Power’s corporate HSEQ programs. This leader will be responsible for developing a proactive, enterprise-wide HSEQ strategy that supports Aypa’s evolving business as a developer, owner, and operator of energy projects. This is not a field safety role—this position requires deep expertise in corporate safety leadership, operational risk management, and regulatory compliance in the energy sector. 

This individual will work cross-functionally to align HSEQ priorities with business objectives, embedding best-in-class safety, environmental, and quality management frameworks across all aspects of the company’s development, construction, and operational activities. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership & Corporate Governance: 

  • Develop and implement a corporate HSEQ strategy aligned with Aypa’s long-term business objectives;
  • Lead corporate HSEQ initiatives, ensuring enterprise-wide engagement and accountability;
  • Advise executive leadership on HSEQ risks, regulatory developments, and industry trends;
  • Build and lead a high-performing HSEQ team that supports corporate functions, project development, construction, and asset operations. 

Enterprise Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance: 

  • Establish and maintain corporate HSEQ policies, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations;
  • Oversee corporate-wide risk assessment frameworks, integrating HSEQ considerations into project development, construction, and operations;
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively adapt Aypa’s policies and practices to maintain full compliance;
  • Prepare executive and board-level reports on HSEQ performance, risk exposure, and compliance status. 

Operational Safety & Quality Oversight: 

  • Partner with Development, Engineering, and Operations teams to integrate HSEQ considerations into project planning and execution;
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide QA/QC programs to ensure the highest standards in construction, commissioning, and operational performance;
  • Oversee incident response, root cause investigations, and corrective action processes at the corporate level;
  • Set corporate performance metrics for safety, environmental compliance, and quality, tracking progress against industry benchmarks. 

Training, Culture, & Continuous Improvement: 

  • Lead efforts to maintain and grow a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the company;
  • Develop and oversee corporate training programs, ensuring that all employees and contractors understand their HSEQ responsibilities;
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance HSEQ performance. 


KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field; advanced degree preferred;
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate HSEQ roles, preferably within renewable energy, independent power production, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure;
  • Experience with battery energy storage required;
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing health, safety, and environmental compliance in North America;
  • Strong track record of leading corporate HSEQ initiatives at a strategic level, including risk management, compliance oversight, and quality assurance;
  • Ability to influence and drive change across all levels of an organization, including executive leadership and external stakeholders;
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support business objectives.? 


COMPENSATION & LOCATION:

Salary:? A base salary commensurate with experience 
Bonus:? An annual bonus will be awarded based on both individual performance as well as the overall success of the business

Location: Ideal location is the company’s headquarters in Austin, Texas.  Other locations will be considered for the right candidate.  This role will require travel based on the needs of the business.
