SFA’s film series to screen ‘The Iron Giant’
The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of the animated science fiction film “The Iron Giant” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.
Turning 25 this August, “The Iron Giant” is the story of 9-year-old Hogarth Hughes who makes friends with an innocent alien giant robot that came from outer space. Meanwhile, a paranoid U.S. Government agent arrives in town, determined to destroy the robot at all costs. It's up to Hogarth to protect the gentle giant and prove his goodness.
The School of Art’s Friday Film Series is sponsored in part by retired filmmaking Professor William Arscott. The Cole Art Center, SFA’s historic downtown gallery, is located at 329 E. Main St. For more information, call (936) 468-1131.
