Celebrate The Daily Sentinel’s Ribbon Cutting – Support Local Journalism!
For more than 125 years, The Daily Sentinel has served our community—Nacogdoches (founded in 1779 and considered the oldest town in Texas) — and Angelina County. Founded in 1899 the newspaper was acquired by Cox Newspapers in 1989 and later sold to Southern Newspapers Inc., along with the Lufkin Daily News, in 2009.
The Sentinel’s mission is to provide readers with the news and opinions they need to make informed decisions and to help local businesses grow through effective marketing. It’s consistently recognized for its outstanding coverage of breaking news and compelling community service journalism. More than a printed paper, The Daily Sentinel offers stories and advertising in both print and online at DailySentinel.com and includes the monthly Charm East Texas magazine with subscriptions.
Come celebrate this new chapter, meet the staff and learn about the paper’s digital tools. Show your support for local journalism and community storytelling!
Mark your calendar, invite friends from Nacogdoches and Lufkin, and be part of history at The Daily Sentinel’s ribbon cutting. See you there! 🎉
