(Nacogdoches, TX) – The Nacogdoches Public Library announces the resumption of the Lunch Hour Book Club. The book club will meet online beginning Wednesday, July 22nd at noon. Unlike traditional book clubs, there is no assigned book. Members read whatever strikes their fancy and then shares with the other members of the group. “This is a wonderful way to be introduced to different genres or authors and there’s no pressure of not having completed the reading,” said Mercedes Franks, library director. The book club will utilize the Google Meet platform, which can be accessed through a computer, laptop, smartphone, or regular landline. “Not everyone is comfortable with doing video meetings, so Google Meet allows a person to just dial in and listen and participate in the conversation with a regular phone. The online platform will help us reach people who might not be able to get away from work, are staying home because of COVID-19, or just want to be comfortable in their own space,” continued Franks. The library interior remains closed, however, customers may order books, DVDs, and story time craft bags for curb-side pick up. For more information on accessing the meeting or ordering library materials, please call library staff at (936) 559-2970.
