The mission of the Nacogdoches Film Festival is to build awareness of independent films and short films as an art form; provide educational opportunities for Stephen F. Austin State University students and other Texas filmmakers; and create opportunities for communities in rural East Texas to experience high quality films.
On Saturday, February 28, 2015, several ticketed events take place.
A Kids filmmaking workshop is 8 a.m. to noon at Stephen F. Austin State University Dept. of Mass Communication, second floor, Boynton Building. Cost is $15, with a maximum class size of 20.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. George R.R. Martin will sign books at Hastings Entertainment, 4501 North Street, Nacogdoches, TX 75961. Tickets are $20. Limit: one book per attendee (available for purchase). Limited number of tickets.
The remaining events take place at the Stephen F. Austin State University campus, in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Theater, second floor. Tickets are required and are limited.
From 6 to 6:20 p.m. "By the Hair of the Head" will be shown. A Q&A with director Mike T. Lyddon and writer Joe Lansdale follows.
From 6:45 to 8 p.m. a discussion panel: "Writing for the Screen" will feature writers George R.R. Martin, Joe Lansdale, Mike Cassutt and Howard Waldrip.
From 8 to 9 p.m. Game of Thrones "Blackwater" will be screened, with a Q&A with director Neil Marshal and co-executive producer and writer George R.R. Martin to follow from 9:30 to 10:00 p.m.
From 10 to 11 p.m., Game of Thrones "The Lion and the Rose" will be screened, with Q&A to follow with director Alex Graves and writer George R.R. Martin.
