Nacogdoches, TX-- SFA Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7:00 pm on June 12 in the Ina Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet Street, Nacogdoches. Bob Byers, director of Fort Worth Botanical Garden, will present “The Basics of Designing Great Borders.” Bob Byers brings a wealth of information to this presentation. He has over 26 years of public garden experience and worked as a landscape architect in Wisconsin, Florida, Alabama and Arkansas. He taught design, plant materials and agricultural engineering at the University of Arkansas, and also served for 21 years as the Director of Operations and Associate Executive Director of Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas. While Byers loves music and earned a music education degree, he also earned a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Louisiana State University. Throughout his career, he has built upon a childhood love of gardening and plants while working alongside his parents in the family garden. He enjoys growing vegetables and flowers in his Willow Park home garden and learning more about the large and varied Texas flora. The Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series is held the second Thursday of each month and includes a plant raffle after the program. Attendance is free and open to the public, and donations to the lecture series fund are always appreciated. Parking is available at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center or next door at Raguet Elementary School, 2708 Raguet St. For more information, call (936) 468-4129 or email sfagarden@sfasu.edu.
