The Nac Safe Place “It’s OK to Not Be OK” Suicide Awareness Walk is an annual community event held during Suicide Awareness Month to bring hope, education, and support to individuals and families affected by suicide. Hosted by Nac Safe Place, the walk unites survivors, advocates, mental health professionals, community organizations, and local residents to raise awareness, reduce stigma surrounding mental health, and encourage individuals to seek help when they are struggling. The event serves as a reminder that no one has to face their challenges alone and that support is available. Held at Festival Park in downtown Nacogdoches, the walk features community resources, educational information, memorial opportunities to honor loved ones lost to suicide, and activities that promote healing, connection, and hope. Funds raised help support Nac Safe Place’s mission of providing mental health education, suicide prevention awareness, crisis support, and community outreach throughout East Texas. By walking together, participants help spread the message that it is okay to ask for help, okay to talk about mental health, and okay to not be okay.
