Care First Clinic, a partner of Nacogdoches Memorial Health, is shooting for "Community Immunity" by blanketing Nacogdoches with free flu immunizations.
Clinic staff and support crews from Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital and Stephen F. Austin State University are offering free adult flu shots on Monday, September 21 at University Mall from 11a.m. to 7 p.m. According to The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, when a critical portion of a community is immunized against a contagious disease like flu, most members of the community are protected against that disease.
Mass immunization helps protect against outbreaks, an can create "community immunity," a phenomenon that might benefit people who aren't eligible to receive certain vaccines.
Participants must be 18 or above to receive a free flu vaccine.
