About the speaker:
Mariah Thompson-Carter started her journey with the Texas Comptroller’s office in 2022. Since joining the Statewide Procurement Division, she has left her imprint in many resourceful programs and recently joined the Statewide HUB Program as the Marketing Coordinator. You will see her at conferences or expo booths with a big smile on her face promoting the Statewide HUB certification.
Prior to her current role, Mariah showcased her customer service skills in retail and aviation for 13 years. While working for the number one athletic retailer, she successfully led multiple stores in her market and won multiple Sales Leadership awards and reached record-breaking sales goals and budgets.
After gaining extensive experience in the retail industry, she made a deliberate shift to apply her customer service skills in the field of aviation. She joined a private airport where she assisted pilots and catered to elite clientele, while also acquiring in-depth knowledge about the airline industry. These experiences not only honed her customer service skills but also made her comfortable with interacting and connecting with new people.
Outside of work, she spends time with her husband and three sons ages 16, 12, and 10 months. Being a “boy mom” keeps her busy with practices, games, and different school events. She enjoys music, art, nature, spending time with her extended family, and a little quality time to herself.
