Join Texas Folklife for a two-night celebration in Nacogdoches honoring the rich musical heritage and community spirit rooted in the Gulf Coast region. Bridging Borders—Music, Memory & Culture: An Intercultural Harmony Convening brings together community, music, and storytelling to honor the musical traditions made popular in Louisiana and shared in Texas. Thursday, August 21 at 7 PM Zion Hill Historic Site Join renowned Louisiana musicians Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and his brothers Tiger and Anthony—alongside acclaimed accordionist Jesse Lége for a candid conversation and music demonstration on the evolution and cultural impact of traditional Louisiana music genres now thriving in Texas. Friday, August 22 at 7 PM Zion Hill Historic Site Get ready for a night of high-energy and electrifying Louisiana & Texas sounds! We’re kicking things off with Jesse Lége and Bosco Stomp, and keeping the party going with a powerhouse performance by Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & the Zydeco Twisters. These are the sounds that bring people to their feet and hearts together. Admission is free and open to all. This event is generously sponsored by the Laura Jane Musser Foundation, which supports nonprofit arts initiatives and community enrichment projects.
