Fifth Annual Drill in the Pines Equestrian Drill Team Competition
Remember the lighted horses at the Nine Flags Parade? They will be performing at the fifth annual "Drill in the Pines" Equestrian Drill Team Competition at the Nacogdoches County Exposition and Civic Center on March 30, 2019.
The day will start at 8 a.m. with patriotic color guards and with the championship division with some of the best teams in the region!
Teams from across Texas will compete for the title in several different divisions based on showmanship, coordination, and teamwork. You will see riders maneuver horses in choreographed sequences.
"It is a lot of hard work and teamwork both in and out of the arena.? Miriam Mumm, Roselake Drill team?s drill master added, ?Riders have to always know who his or her partner is at all times and it changes with the different movements."
Last year over 15 teams competed at Drill in the Pines. Riders of all ages and skill levels perform in this truly unique experience. These teams consist of groups with only four riders or they may have up to 16 riders. The themed rides will have elaborately decorated costumes ranging from pirates to fairies.
Admission is free!
