DESCRIPTION:Who Saved Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's Life? On Saturday\, May the 4th\, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon\, Milam Masonic Lodge #2\, the oldest continually operating Masonic Lodge in Texas\, will host free to the public the display of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's Masonic Apron and silk serape that Santa Anna gave to Texian John Stiles as a gift for saving him from certain execution after being captured at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. Bob Stiles\, a 5th generation relative to John Stiles\, will give two short presentations at 9:30 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. about the unique history and significance of the apron and serape. See the other historical items preserved and displayed in Milam #2's museum\, some older than TEXAS herself at 129 N. Fredonia St.\, Nacogdoches\, TX\, directly behind Commercial Bank on the square and across from the Fredonia Hotel.
