DESCRIPTION:The Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition at Stephen F. Austin State University is slated for Saturday\, Feb. 1\, in Cole Concert Hall and is open to high school violinists\, violists\, cellists and double bassists ages 15 to 18.\n\n\n\nThe semi-finals begin at 1 p.m.\, followed by the final round at 7:30 p.m. The Schmidbauer Competition offers a unique performance opportunity for young musicians with prizes that include cash awards\, scholarship incentives and performance opportunities with orchestras.\n\n\n\nAdmission to the final round concert is $8 for adults\, $6 for seniors and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased ahead by calling (936) 468-6407 or by visiting the SFA Fine Arts Box Office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets will also be available at the door.
