DESCRIPTION:SFA Gardens to host fruit research field day NACOGDOCHES\, Texas   Stephen F. Austin State University's SFA Gardens will host a fruit research field day from 8:30 A.M. to 4 P.M. on. Sep. 18 featuring kiwifruit\, muscadines\, blueberries\, figs\, feijoas and other fruits. Speakers will include Dr. David Creech\, director of SFA Gardens who will present "The SFA Gardens' Fruit Research Program" and Dr. Tim Hartmann assistant professor and extension specialist with Texas A&M University Department of Horticultural Sciences who will present "What's on the Horizon for Fruit Growing in Texas." The day will start with coffee\, donuts and presentations in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building in the Pineywoods Native Plant Center\, located at 2900 Raguet St.\, Nacogdoches. After a break for attendees to leave for lunch on their own\, participants will then travel by van to the fruit research plots at SFA Gardens. The cost of the field day is $30 per person. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the SFA Gardens Online Store at https://www.sfasu.edu/gardens/store or at the door on the day of the event.
