DESCRIPTION:The Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition at Stephen F. Austin State University is slated for Feb. 1 in Cole Concert Hall and is open to high school violinists\, violists\, cellists and double bassists ages 15 to 18.\n\n\n\nThe semi-finals begin at 1 p.m.\, followed by the final round at 7:30 p.m.\n\n\n\nThe Schmidbauer Competition offers a unique performance opportunity for young musicians with prizes that include cash awards\, scholarship incentives and performance opportunities with orchestras.\n\n\n\nAdmission to the final round concert is $8 for adults\, $6 for seniors and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased ahead by calling (936) 468-6407 or by visiting the SFA Fine Arts Box Office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets will also be available at the door.
