DESCRIPTION:Chamber Government Affairs committee chair Scarlett Sloane encourages all to attend Nacogdoches-SFA Days in Austin presented by Norbord\, Feb. 18-19. The two-day event includes briefings with elected officials at the Capitol and a Wednesday evening reception\, 5:30  to 7:30 p.m.\, at the Omni Hotel\, 700 San Jacinto and 8th St.\, co-hosted by Sen. Robert Nichols and Rep. Travis Clardy.            "Groups representing our community and individuals meet for a time to interact with the policy makers at the Capitol during the 84th legislative session\," Sloane said. "In the Wednesday and Thursday briefings we are focusing on higher education\, legislative budget and transportation. Speakers on those topics include Higher Education Coordinating Board Commissioner Raymund Paredes\, TxDOT Executive Director General Joe Weber\, and State Comptroller Glenn Hegar. " \n\n            Sen. Nichols and Rep. Clardy plan to be involved in the briefings\, and they both welcome the Nacogdoches - SFA group to visit their offices at the Capitol and meet the staff members. \n\n            "Nacogdoches - SFA Days at the Texas Capitol is a great opportunity for community members\, officials\, business leaders\, educators and SFA student leaders to become better informed about the current issues facing our state" Rep. Clardy said. "I'm always proud to see the positive impact made by the Nacogdoches-SFA delegation as members interact with legislative and agency leaders about the issues important to East Texas while also highlighting our greatest resources and strengths.  Those who participate in Nacogdoches - SFA Days are true allies in my work to promote the interests of House District 11 in the Texas Legislature."\n\n            Sloane said with support from sponsors\, there are no charges to attend the meetings and reception.
