DESCRIPTION:VIBRANT LATIN FUSION GROUP\, LAS CAFETERAS\, TO PERFORM A FREE CONCERT AS PART OF 2021 LUFKIN HERITAGE FESTIVAL\n\nAngelina Arts Alliance is thrilled to announce that Afro-Mexican music group Las Cafeteras will perform a free\, in-person concert on Saturday\, September 11 at 6 p.m. as part of the 2021 Heritage Festival in Downtown Lufkin.\n\n\n\nLas Cafeteras have taken the music scene by storm with their infectious live performances and have crossed genre and musical borders. Their electric sound and energy has taken them around the world playing shows from the Bonnaroo to the Hollywood Bowl\, WOMAD New Zealand to Montreal Jazz\, and beyond.\n\n\n\nLas Cafeteras' Afro-Mexican beats\, rhythms\, and rhymes deliver inspiring lyrics that document stories of a community seeking love and justice in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles. Using traditional Son Jarocho instruments like the jarana\, requinto\, quijada (donkey jawbone) and tarima (a wooden platform)\, Las Cafeteras sing in English\, Spanish\, and Spanglish and add a remix of sounds\, from rock to hip-hop to rancheras. This eclectic group of singers and musicians use music as a vehicle to build bridges among different cultures and communities\, and have been described by the LA Times as a "uniquely Angeleno mishmash of punk\, hip-hop\, beat music\, cumbia and rock   live\, they're magnetic."\n\n\n\nLufkin's Heritage Festival will take place in Downtown Lufkin from 4-8 p.m. and feature live cultural entertainment\, food trucks featuring different cuisines\, artisan vendors\, and activities for the kids. Admission is free.\n\n\n\nThe Angelina Arts Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich\, entertain and educate by presenting and promoting the arts in East Texas.
