The event has been successful from 2008-2024.! We are so excited about providing this event. We need your help and support to make this event bigger\, better\, and more exciting in 2024! This event will take place Downtown in the Festival Plaza Park. The purpose of this celebration is to bring the Nacogdoches community together to commemorate the abolition of slavery in Texas executed on June 19th\, 1865. This day of celebration emphasizes education achievements with guest speakers\, games for all ages\, reading of the Emancipation Proclamation\, car show\, baking contest\, praise dancing\, poetry reading\, African dancing by an Authentic group and participation of SFA's fraternities and sororities. There will free food and drinks/water! A parade Downtown Nacogdoches will open the Juneteenth Celebration\, 2023 had 200+ Parade entries! Tents\, booths\, portables and vendor games will be set up to accommodate the participants. 2023 Event was well attended with very diverse p[participants.-Elderly\, young\, old different races/ethnicity.
