DESCRIPTION:Nacogdoches Naturally will host a Family Outdoor Adventure from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20\, at Lake Nacogdoches. This fun day will offer participants a chance to enjoy water activities and share food with family and friends.\n\n\n\nNacogdoches Naturally is a project sponsored by SFA Gardens in the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at Stephen F. Austin State University and funded through a More Kids in the Woods grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture- U.S. Forest Service.\n\n\n\n"We have had a very successful year with our family program\, and with our numerous family events and field trips throughout the year\, we have been able to connect with many families\," said Kerry Lemon\, project director of Nacogdoches Naturally. "It has been a wonderful opportunity to play outside with these families and encourage them to spend quality family time outdoors in the beautiful natural areas of East Texas."\n\n\n\nFor the Lake Nacogdoches event\, each family is asked to bring a picnic lunch. Light snacks will be provided. There will be outdoor games\, swimming\, fishing poles\, canoes and kayaks available. Equipment will be provided through the program\, but families are invited to bring whatever personal gear they may want to use.\n\n\n\nFamilies can meet at 10 a.m. at Lake Nacogdoches West Entrance Park Pavilion No. 2 located off state Highway 225 West. The event is open to the public with a $15 fee per family. Some limited transportation will be available\, as needed.\n\n\n\nActivities are designed to cultivate outdoor skills and an awareness of outdoor education with the goal of families developing a lifetime appreciation of the natural world.
