DESCRIPTION:Nacogdoches to host Destination Marketing Principles Seminar Jan. 30-31\n\n            The Texas Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus recently selected Nacogdoches to host an upcoming event that has the power to influence and benefit a variety of professionals both within the city and across the state. Specifically\, Texas' oldest town will host a Destination Marketing Principles Seminar Jan. 30-31 at the recently-renovated historic Fredonia Hotel and Convention Center.\n\n            This seminar is created to benefit anyone who works to promote a destination - both directly and indirectly - such as hotel industry employees\, local business and attraction owners\, elected officials\, city organization board members\, regional tourism promoters\, arts and cultural organizations and volunteers and advocates. \n\n            Attendees who arrive Wednesday\, Jan. 30\, will have the opportunity to enjoy a special Nacogdoches heritage tour and evening reception. The tour will showcase some of the vast history of Texas' oldest town\, including visits to the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot\, Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens\, Sterne-Hoya Museum and Library\, Old University Building and the stunning Zion Hill Baptist Church. The following evening reception\, sponsored by Nacogdoches-based Hancock Advertising\, will be hosted at Red House Winery\, a new downtown venue that serves up award-winning wines in a gorgeously unique and inviting atmosphere.\n\n            Attendees also are welcome to attend Thursday's informative sessions only. The first half of the day will be dedicated to the principles of destination marketing\, including funding\, marketing strategies\, partnerships\, hotel occupancy tax usage and more. This session will be instructed by special guest Marla Roe\, executive director of Visit Frisco\, who has more than 31 years of experience in hospitality and destination marketing.\n\n            Two engaging afternoon sessions will focus on local businesses and the arts and cultural community - the first presented by Alysia Cook with Opportunity Strategies and the second by Beverly Abell with the Mesquite Downtown Development Office. A short bonus session will be presented during lunch by Marty Prince with the Texas Forest Trail Region.\n\n            Anyone can register for this seminar. The price for non-TACVB members is $100 for the full day. Half-day rates also are available. Nacogdoches partners may receive a special full-day discounted rate of $85 by using the CVB's membership code.
