Skate-O-Rama owner Sigrid Semien wants people to think of her business as a place of tradition.
And that is why she is gearing up the skating rink for another year of its Family New Year?s Eve Party on Saturday.
From noon to 8 p.m., families are invited to compete in special games and challenges such as the limbo and races, and to watch the annual balloon drop at 7:30.
?We try to create an event to get families out and do something,? she said. ?We put in some other games because it?s a special event.?
Balloons in the drop will be filled with prizes, Semien said.
Parents who don?t plan to skate and only want to watch their kids won?t be charged admission fees, she said.
Skate-O-Rama manager Shereeta Barnes said regular admission fees of $6 applies to anyone who skates, and skate rentals are available for $3.
The staking rink has hosted the event every year since 2012, with the exception of one year when the business was being renovated.
